Who’s Power is it?

Happy New Year! 🙂

You and I made it to another year and I am truly grateful for that! When I woke up to see the scripture of the day was Lamentations 3:22-23, it made me even more glad!

22) It is of the Lord‘s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. 23) They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

It is truly of the Lord’s mercies that we made it to another year…GREAT is His faithfulness!

Ok so now on to the question at hand….Who’s Power is it?

2 Corinthians 4:7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the POWER MAY BE OF GOD, and NOT of us.

We can get so caught up…wait, let me rephrase that. I can get so caught up trying to do my best in God, forgetting that the power is of Him and not of me.

Philippians 2:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

Here it is again in the amplified version…“For it is [not your strength, but it is] God who is effectively at work in you, both to will and to work [that is, strengthening, energizing, and creating in you the longing and the ability to fulfill your purpose] for His good pleasure.”

I hear this Word and a light bulb comes on! It makes so much sense!

Psalm 119:130 The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.

Ephesians 1:18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,

My understanding was illuminated once again! This is something I knew but that needed to be refreshed and applied to my life. The Word was taken from my head to my heart(as my pastor would say). It is not my power but the power of the Holy Ghost!

Galatians 3:3 Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?

The question that Paul asked the Galatians is a question I have to ask myself at times to reel it in! We don’t want to be so busy trying that we tell God, “I got it!”. Although I was not verbally telling God that I can handle it on my own, my actions were communicating it. I was trying to squeeze and push fruit out from the branch but a tree does not have to grunt to produce fruit. This is the same with us.

John 15:4-5 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

Preach Jesus! I don’t even have to write this blog! The scriptures are telling the story of what is in my heart to say.

The power is not of us. Let us rest in Jesus and follow His guidance.

Psalm 138:The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O Lord, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands.

It’s the work of His own hands that He is perfecting. We are God’s workmanship that He WILL perfect! (Ephesians 2:10) Do we have a part in it? Yes. Listening and being obedient. We have to hear the instructions(listen) and follow them(be obedient). Even with that….it is still of His power.

His power.

Can I say another thing??

No matter what…God is still God!
